"Abide" was painted live at Converge, in November 2017 in Launceston. The artwork depicts leaves, once part of The Vine, now drawn to other attractions, heading toward darkness. Some leaves remain green or even turn gold, yet they stay detached. When they fall, they inevitably gather at the foot of The Vine.
The Vine, however, extends its branches toward them, reaching out. At the center of The Vine is an egg-shaped form, symbolizing Life. Those who remain connected to The Vine experience a journey through stages of life, beginning with healing (blue), moving to revelation (white), and culminating in glory (gold, representing Heaven on earth).
A caterpillar, having tasted the essence of The Vine from the leaves, realizes it must cling to The Vine, which connects Heaven and Earth, to find new life. A butterfly emerges, transformed from its cocoon. Now, it soars in freedom, with healing in its wings.
